Money Bags

It is pretty amusing how creative those teleco companies supporters are.

Well, whether they are true teleco companies supporters or merely people who have nothing better to do or have too much time to spare or are true believers of whatever that is being sms-ed, I still admire them in peculiar way.

So among the 'Pass It On' sms-es I received over the past 24hours, I think this message received this morning is the best among all:

"This month of January is very special.
There are 5 Mondays, 5 Saturdays and 5 Sundays in only 1 month.
This only happens every 823 years.
It is called the "Money Bags".
Forward this message to 8 good persons and as per Feng Shui principles, money will flow.
Those who stop the chain will get nothing.
Shall we try."

Did you receive this too?

Song Sharing Sunday - 105 [新包青天主题曲]

Every weekday night, before I rest my head on my pillow, its this man's wisdom that I bring to bed with. *wink* Do you watch 包青天 too on Channel 8 at 12midnight from Monday to Friday? I was telling Allan that I love the theme song very much, the first time I heard it. So here's sharing it with you... *smile*

McDonald's Miniatures in Singapore

I was 'shouting' all over the place about how IN LOVE I am with the current McDonald's Miniatures sold in Singapore. My cousin used to be a McDonald's floor manager for almost 20years. I remember McDonald's used to have miniatures several years back too, but those were REALLY MINI! I still recall receiving them as gifts from my cousin as well when I was still a kid.

So that's the background of how I started loving miniatures. One of my Favourite birthday present of all times, other than Little Twin Stars merchandises (I am a HUGE Little Twin Stars fan) has to be the mini-sofa clay set bought by my sister many many years ago. (I think this might come as a surprise to her if she gets to read this... *smile*)

Ok, enough about my love for miniatures.

Here's the real stuff now.

McDonald's is selling the Apple Pie, Big Mac, Double Quarter Pounder, Filet-O-Fish, French Fries and Coffee miniatures since 13th January with any purchase. They are sold at $2.50 a piece or you can pay $25 to get the whole set which comes with a cardboard box for display purposes.

So I started to do my calculations in my head:
$2.50 per piece.
$25 per set.
6pieces x $2.50 = $15.00.
So the remaining $10 is the price of the cardboard box!!!
$10 for a cardboard box?!?!
NO WAY am I going to pay for that!

Little did I know that I missed the first pair of McDonald's miniatures till my sis told me this afternoon!!!
*Scream*
So I went on to check with the staff for the details of each week, and here they are:
Week 1 (13/1/2011 - 19/1/2011): Double Quarter Pounder + French Fries
Week 2 (20/1/2011 - 26/1/2011): Coffee + Filet-O-Fish
Week 3 (27/1/2011 - 2/2/2011): Apple Pie + Big Mac

Well, I got my 'Coffee' and 'Filet-O-Fish'. Yippee! *clap clap clap*
Now is the big hunt for the Double Quarter Pounder and French Fries... hope they still have left-overs in certain branches... *fingers crossed*

From my lengthy chat on my Facebook status on the left picture, you would realise that the 2nd series of McDonald's miniatures have already reached Japan.
Let's hope it comes to Singapore real soon....
I want the Mc-House!
Sooooooooo cute!
There goes my insanity..... *laugh*

But i can't go for that
No can do
But i can't go for that
No can do
But i can't go for that
No can do
I can't go for that
can't go for that
can't go for that
can't go for that
I can't go for being twice as nice
I can't go for just repeating the some old lines
Use the body now you want my soul
Oo forget about it say no go
Yeah I'll do anything you want me to
Yeah I'll do almost anything that you want me to

But i can't go for that
No can do
But i can't go for that
No can do
But i can't go for that
No can do
I can't go for that
can't go for that
can't go for that

Happy Advance Birthday Juliana!

Always love spending time with my closest group of friends. Today, we went to The Mussel Guys Restaurant at Vivo City to celebrate Juliana's birthday.

First time to the restaurant and I loved it like crazy!
The oysters were so fresh!
The baked cheese mussels were yummlicious!
The dessert was addictive!
and my Entree was simply superb!
Then again, salivating food always come with a price.
Four of us choke up a bill of $113.00.
*eyes widened*

Thereafter, we went on to Pacific Coffee Company, had a great time chatting under the spectacular display of fireworks from Universal Studios at Sentosa. Its like a celebration of our 20 years of friendship. *Huge Grin*

Tonight is truly a wonderful gathering.... *smile*

Happy Advanced Birthday Ju! *smile*

Chinese Hong Bao Lantern 2011

Every year, I would make a new Chinese Hong Bao Lantern for my in-law's house. This year, is the best of all my previous creations and one that I am most satisfied with. *Grin*

The only 'bad' thing is, its HEAVY!!! So much so that you cannot stick it on your celling with just blue-tack, you need a proper drilled-in-hook to make sure that it can hold the weight.

To prevent having a super long blog post, I am not going to repeat certain steps which are the same as last year's blog post on 'How To Make Chinese Lantern', so I would be referring those steps back to that post. Alright, here goes:

Things you need for this Chinese Hong Bao Lantern 2011:-
  1. 36 pieces of Long Rectangular Hong Bao
  2. 12 pieces of Normal Rectangular Hong Bao
  3. 24 pieces of Hong Bao size Cardboards
  4. 24 pieces of Hong Bao size Vanguard Sheets
  5. Red ribbon or thread
  6. 12 pieces of short Decorative Tassels
  7. 1 piece of long Decorative Tassel
  8. Long Tassel
  9. Gold coloured adhesive tape
  10.  Double sided adhesive tape
  11. Scissors / Penknife
  12. Scotchtape

STEP 1: Using the Long Rectangular Hong Bao, repeat Step 1 to Step 7 as shown in this blog post 'How To Make Chinese Lantern'.

STEP 2: Then repeat Step 31 to Step 36 as illustrated in the blog post 'How To Make Chinese Lantern'.

 STEP 3: Make 2 sets.

STEP 4: Fold the top and bottom of the remaining 12 pieces of Long Rectangular Hong Bao. The fold should be about 1cm.

STEP 5: Cut out a piece of Vanguard Sheet based on the size of the FOLDED Hong Bao.

STEP 6: Keep the bottom fold intact using your finger, as you slot in the Vanguard Sheet till it touches the folded area. Seal the Hong Bao.

STEP 7: Stick Double Adhesive Tape on the top and bottom folded area at the BACK of the Hong Bao.

STEP 8: Bend the middle section of the Hong Bao a little and stick it onto the formation you have created in STEP 3. Do it on all sides for BOTH formation.

POINT TO NOTE: Do Not Stick right to the ends, 'cos it would not bend. There should be a gap of about 1cm for both top and bottom.

STEP 9: Using the Normal Size Rectangular Hong Bao, fold the bottom part of the Hong Bao as shown in the photo below.

STEP 10: Cut out a Vanguard Sheet based on the folded shape.

STEP 11:Slot in the Vanguard Sheet with your fingers holding the folded sides. Seal the Hong Bao.

STEP 12: Paste a short Decorative Tassel onto the Hong Bao with Scotch Tape. Then stick a strip of Double Sided Adhesive Tape Across the width as shown below to hold the folded corners in place.

STEP 13:Stick the Normal Rectangular Hong Bao onto the TOP of the INTERIOR of the formation. Bend the middle section of the Hong Bao a little with your fingers to create a curve. Repeat these steps till all the TOP sides of BOTH formation is completed.

STEP 14: Lined the Gold coloured adhesive tape around the top and bottom of ONE of your formation. And ONLY THE TOP part of the 2nd formation.

STEP 15: Lined the Double sided Adhesive Tape around the bottom part of the 2nd formation.

STEP 16: Stick the Long Tassel onto the Double Sided Adhesive Tape.

STEP 17:Using a red ribbon or thread to tie the two formations together with the long Decorative Tassel at the bottom of the Chinese Hong Bao Lantern, as demonstrated under Step 40 and Step 41 in the blog post 'How To Make Chinese Lantern'.

AND THE END RESULT.... TA-DAA...:

Phew! I hope the instructions are simple and clear enough. If not, voice it out in the comments alright? And I will be more than willing to explain further....

Have Fun! And a super advanced Happy Chinese New Year!

Song Sharing Sunday - 103 [Baby Don't You Break My Heart]

I could not find a good video of Vonda Shepard's version of this song, which I think is so much better than Taylor Swift's version...*wink*
